About Us:
The Kiger Band has quickly established itself as the HOTTEST HIGH ENERGY COUNTRY ROCK BAND in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas!  Our song list includes current top country rock hits as well as original songs performed only by The Kiger Band. The original songs include a number of songs written by Nashville song writers submitted to The Kiger Band specifically to add our touch of "high energy attitude." That attitude is evident in the very first song we recorded, “Redneck of the Woods” written by Dr. Jim Smith, which has been aired on radio stations across the country, such as Froggy Radio, Y108 and Independent Music Network.

When first joining DigitalRodeo.com, The Kiger Band's song, "Redneck of the Woods," was on their Top 10 List for four months straight.  Digital Rodeo chose our song to be part of Volume One of Digital Rodeo’s very first CD release, which Aaron Tippin handed out at the CMA Festival in June 2007.  Aaron distributed 30,000 CDs to the fans at the Nashville Convention Center.  In August 2007, The Kiger Band was the only non-signed band of the three bands performing on the First Commonwealth Main Stage, which holds 8,000 people, at the Westmoreland County Fair – the other two performers were Poverty Neck Hillbillies and Blake Shelton.  The Kiger Band started a charity event, “Rockin Country Cares” -- a benefit for the T.A.P.S. The event, held at Saddle Ridge in Pittsburgh in September 2007, featured Aaron Tippin along with other local country bands.  In early 2008, The Kiger Band entered the Hot Country Music contest sponsored by Digital Rodeo.  "Redneck of the Woods" won the Country Outlaw category, which was voted on by fans on Digital Rodeo.  The song was also nominated to compete for “Song of the Year.”  .

In June 2008, "Redneck of the Woods" was submitted to the CBS Radio affiliate Y108 and chosen out of thousands of registrants as one of the Top 10 in Kenny Chesney's Next Big Star Contest.  Y108 listeners then voted for their favorite bands, choosing it as one of the final four to battle it out at the Hard Rock Café in Pittsburgh.  The Kiger Band performed the next day on the Y108 stage (outside of Heinz Field) at Kenny Chesney's concert, as a runner up in the competition. In July 2009, the band’s reputation goes international when it performed for country fans in Ontario, Canada at the Cayuga Motor Speedway.  The Kiger Band was one of three bands chosen to perform at the Finish Line Festival in May 2010 following the sold-out 16,000 runner Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon.  On Independence Day 2010, we were one of the opening acts for Craig Morgan at the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta.  The festival is the largest inland regatta in the United States, drawing tens of thousands of fans along the Allegheny River.  Our current single, "A Hurtin’ Thing," co-written by Melissa Pierce and Black River Music group recording artist, Jeff Bates, first aired on Y108. The Kiger Band performed at the Washington County Fair and was one of the opening acts for the Marshall Tucker Band at the 2010 Labor Day South Park Rib and Wing Challenge.

The Kiger Band along with other special guests Cowboy Troy, 2 Foot Fred, The Stickers, Nomad and East Coast Turnaround were part of Xtreme Muzik The Tour starring Big $ Rich and Gretchen Wilson in July 2011 at the Trib Total Media Amphitheatre in Pittsburgh.  The Kiger Band performed at the Washington County Agricultural Fair and on Labor Day 2011, will be one of the opening acts performing before Molly Hatchet at the South Park Rib and Wing Challenge.
